Edexcel IGCSE History (Two-Year Course)
Step into the drama of the 20th century and discover the events, leaders, and turning points that shaped the modern world. This course takes students on a captivating journey across continents—from the rise of communist China to the collapse of Soviet control in Eastern Europe, from the devastation of World War I to the tensions of the Cold War.
Along the way, students will wrestle with big questions that historians still debate today:
- Was the Treaty of Versailles fair?
- Could the League of Nations have prevented another world war?
- Was Hitler’s foreign policy the key cause of WWII?
- Who was responsible for the Cold War?
- How far did the United States succeed in containing communism?
- How secure was Soviet power in Eastern Europe?
In addition, students will dive deep into China: Conflict, Crisis, and Change (1900–1989)—an in-depth study of revolution, upheaval, and transformation in one of the world’s most influential nations.
This course is designed not just to prepare students for the Edexcel IGCSE exam, but to spark curiosity, develop critical thinking, and build confidence in analysing sources and constructing strong arguments. Students will learn to:
- Understand key events, periods, and societies in modern history
- Think like historians—asking sharp questions and weighing evidence
- Explore a wide range of historical sources in context
- Communicate ideas clearly and persuasively, both in writing and discussion
Format:
- One-hour live Zoom class each week
- Guided assignments and activities to complete between lessons
- Individual feedback and support from the teacher
Whether your goal is exam success, a love of history, or the skills to think critically about today’s world, this course offers an engaging and rewarding experience.

It is very fun and engaging, with a lot of interesting facts and many viewpoints coming at the information, so we can fully comprehend our learning. She is very engaging and always has a smile on her face! She is always happy to explain further if anyone is confused, and she has a way of teaching that makes it very interesting and engaging. She is very relaxed ,and the lessons aren’t stressful at all.

Thank you very much Lisa for this encouraging and informative report. Caleb has really enjoyed learning about Germany & Russia this year and he has shared his acquisition of knowledge in several family conversations this year. He seems to have an increased interest in history, politics & other countries & cultures as a result of his studies – so good 😊
Thank you for all you’ve done for Caleb this year. We appreciate all the prep in making his lessons so interesting and varied. And for all your fruitful feedback/assessments.
